Position Overview:
Pygmy Elephant is hiring a new team member that will handle reservations, operations and customer service. We are looking for someone who is goal oriented and driven to produce results. We are a small, fast growing company that offers advancement opportunities on the ground floor. This is an entry level position with room to grow into a sales role and management responsibility.
The new team member will be responsible for making sure the client onboarding process runs smoothly. She / he will lead the client through the onboarding process, make travel bookings and reservations, problem solve availability issues and provide customer support before, during and after travel.

Pygmy Elephant creates Self-Guided Adventure tours for clients. We focus on long distance trekking tours. The Tour du Mont Blanc, Camino de Santiago, West Highland Way and the W-Trek in Torres del Paine are a few examples of places we send clients to every year. Job Duties:
- Understand the needs and requests of clients and consult them effectively on travel arrangements.
- Create detailed quotations using our backend system based on the needs of client.
- Create detailed and rich handbooks using our backend system based on client’s itinerary.
- Create detailed travel apps utilizing sophisticated online software.
- Make bookings and reservations with local accommodation, transport and activity suppliers. Work with clients to best meet itinerary goals based on market availability.
- Handle customer service throughout the life of a client’s trip – from initial quotation, to bookings, to support while travel to after travel support.
- Maintain relationships with key suppliers.
- Keep financial statements and documents.
- Create and update electronic records of clients.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage, especially French or Spanish.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas
- Demonstrable ability to handle crises
- Detail oriented, passionate and driven
- Enjoys the outdoors and hiking
- Technologically savvy and has an entrepreneurial mindset
Experience:
- 2 years of previous customer service experience
- Degree in Hospitality, Travel, Tourism, Business or relevant field would be beneficial, however not mandatory.
- Industry experience in outdoor travel market a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $36,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
