JOB SUMMARY

The Clinical Director is responsible for the overall operation of the outpatient clinic, including daily management, ensuring that clinical supervision is available during all operational hours, developing a quality improvement plan for the outpatient clinic, and monitoring adherence to appropriate regulations/licensing requirements. The Clinical Director is also responsible for overseeing all clinical programming and collaborating with members of the Leadership team on various administrative functions. This includes providing clinical services while also supervising, providing performance reviews for clinical staff, and coordinating and evaluating all program services. The Clinical Director will assist in program development (i.e., clinical curriculum, programming, group facilitation and documentation, treatment planning, etc.), financial management, program marketing, hiring and supervising clinical staff, and evaluating program policies for clinical operations and processes. This position will assist the Executive Director in areas of problem-solving, conflict resolution, readiness for State visits and other areas as assigned.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provides supervision for clinical staff. This entails facilitating weekly/ biweekly individual and group supervision with each counselor, documenting supervision notes, and assisting counselors in effective and individualized treatments for clients with regular case conceptualization consults and treatment team meetings.
  • Supervises all clinical staff activities, which includes monitoring groups, individual therapy, documentation practices, and charting to maintain the highest standards of quality and effectiveness.
  • Providing direct clinical care to clients in individual and group settings, as needed.
  • Develops and implements the policies and procedures for the operation of the outpatient clinic.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with contracted billing company and any internal utilization review staff.
  • Works to assist in implementation and full collaboration with Electronic Health Record company and build data and compliance infrastructure (i.e., clinical forms, assessments, screeners, consents, and reports).
  • Participates in monthly medical records meetings and quality assurance performance improvement meetings. Develops and spears any clinical performance improvement strategies, if applicable.
  • Participates in the overall employment process for clinical staff, including recruiting, interviewing, employing, supervising, and discharging, according to established personnel policies.
  • Completes performance appraisals for clinical and administrative staff on an annual basis and works with Human Resources on employee performance management throughout the year.
  • Provides supervision and documentation of clinical staff training and development and monitors the compliance of staff credentialing. This includes initial onboarding training and ongoing required trainings.
  • Networks with other organizations to increase the referral base.
  • Functions as Leader/Liaison of multi-disciplinary Clinical Treatment Team.
  • Evaluates quality of program on an ongoing basis and develops cost-effective methods to provide services.
  • Fosters a healthy and positive team-approach with staff.
  • Promotes a positive workplace culture to effectively recruit and retain high quality staff.

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in a Behavioral Health Related field.
  • License in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or substance use; clinical supervision certification/ licensure required (i.e., LCSW, LPC, LMFT, and/or similar certification/licensure).
  • 2 years, at minimum, of supervisory experience required.
  • ASAM experience and knowledge
  • 5 years of Mental Health and/or Substance Use Treatment experience required, preferably in an outpatient setting.
  • Experience with startup organizations is preferred.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency.

COMPETENCIES

  • Leadership expertise: the Clinical Director leads the clinical team and is responsible for oversight for all clinical programming, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and accreditation bodies.
  • Clinical expertise: the Clinical Director must be competent in assessing, diagnosing, providing, and documenting appropriate clinical care in an outpatient substance use treatment center.
  • Emergency and safety: understand and follow facility emergency and safety procedures, respond to emergencies in a safe and effective manner, provide first aid and CPR as needed, and maintain a safe and secure environment for clients and staff.
  • Overdose prevention: all staff need to be able to recognize the signs and symptoms of an overdose and respond appropriately and need to be trained in the use of naloxone and other overdose reversal medications.
  • Suicide risk and prevention: all staff need to be able to recognize the signs and symptoms of suicide risk and respond appropriately and need to be trained in suicide prevention strategies.

  • Organizational Skills: The Clinical Director must be able to effectively manage their time and resources. They must be able to maintain a caseload, meet with clients, and complete paperwork.
  • Flexibility: The Clinical Director must be able to adapt to change. They must be able to adjust their approach to treatment as needed, and they must be able to handle unexpected situations.
  • Self-Awareness: The Clinical Director must be aware of their own biases and limitations. They must be able to identify their own strengths and weaknesses, and they must be able to use this knowledge to improve their practice.
  • Empathy: The Clinical Director must be able to understand and empathize with their clients. They must be able to see the world from their clients' perspective, and they must be able to offer support and understanding.
  • Respect: The Clinical Director must respect their clients' unique experiences and perspectives. They must be able to treat their clients with dignity and respect, regardless of their background or circumstances.
  • Professionalism: The Clinical Director must maintain a professional demeanor at all times. They must dress and behave in a way that is appropriate for a professional setting, and they must uphold the ethical standards of their profession.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs during emergency drills or situations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
