Job Summary:

Inspect and test fire alarm systems to ensure that they function effectively and meet NFPA standards. Adjust or repair malfunctioning systems. 



Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and test fire alarm systems to ensure that they function effectively and meet NFPA standards
  • Run test on fire alarm system and report to central station
  • Coordinate with fire department to avoid response to test
  • Train new fire inspectors, lead team of inspectors
  • Produce detailed inspection and deficiency reports in accordance with NFPA
  • Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices such as laptop computers and/or hard copy
  • Follow and maintain a highly structured inspection schedule
  • Complete assigned inspections on time
  • Provide support, guidance, and expertise to the other inspectors
  • All other miscellaneous responsibilities and other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an inspector technician role within the fire detection and protection industry
  • Knowledge of fire alarm industry
  • Current California Fire/Life Safety Card
  • NICET certified a plus
  • Lift Certificate a plus
  • Proficient in NFPA 72 code requirements
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards
  • Knowledge of fire pumps, backflows, and standpipes is a plus
  • Ability to manage job scheduling and job progress in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality
  • Attention to detail with the ability to communicate with employees, employers, customers, and authorities having jurisdiction
  • Knowledge of current fire alarm and clean agent/special hazard fire suppression systems
  • Ability to read fire system design drawings
  • Candidate should have the ability to accurately discern, and document deficiencies found during an inspection and produce reports accurately
  • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70lbs
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends to meet customer requirements
  • Willing to travel out of town including overnight lodging
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements
  • Pass a pre-employment background check

  • Squatting – Frequently (3-6 hours/daily)
  • Climbing – Frequently (3-6 hours/daily)
  • Kneeling - Frequently (3-6 hours/daily)
  • Crawling – Occasionally (0-3 hours/daily)
  • Twisting (Neck and Waist) – Occasionally (0-3 hours/daily)
  • Grasping (crimping) – Constantly (6-8 hours/daily)
  • Lifting 0-70lb – Frequently (3-6 hours/daily)
  • Carrying 0-70lb – Frequently (3-6 hours/daily)
