The Technician is a critical team member in the production and execution of fireworks. This position is responsible for Correctly packing, inspecting and maintaining equipment, as well as completing necessary safety and equipment lists, according to directions and company protocols. The Technician often works on show site and must work in a professional and orderly manner within the strict time limits of the
production.
Essential Functions
- Correctly and accurately pack/repack and setup equipment based upon a given list, either orally or in writing.
- Inspect and maintain all equipment pursuant to existing company protocols.
- Maintain equipment and storage areas in a clean and organized manner.
- Safely execute and operate shows on-site according to training and given cues.
- Supervise fellow Technicians when acting as the Crew Chief for a show.
- Complete operating knowledge of the company’s DMX operating controllers, Pyro Firing Systems, and equipment
- Other tasks and assignments at the direction of the Production Team or Direct Supervisor/Lead Tech
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position may or may not have supervisory responsibilities depending on the role assigned to them per the specific event.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional event/venue environment. This role routinely uses company effects equipment.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently
- Ability to work for long hours in indoor and outdoor environments--extreme heat and cold
- Ability to bend, stoop, climb and walk 75% of the time
Travel
This position requires frequent travel. Travel will be mixed local and outside the local area and overnight. Rarely would travel be international, but being legally able to cross the Canadian border is important.
Required Education and Experience
Working knowledge of stage and theatrical production, including stage terminology, firework safety,
and production organization is preferred.
Working knowledge of the proper and safe operation of lasers, effects, pyro equipment (either existing or through in-house training and certification)
Knowledge of basic electronics troubleshooting and repair, including soldering skills.
Knowledge of basic engineering and mechanical concepts.
Ability to quickly solve problems and issues.
Ability to always follow all safety protocols without exception.
Ability to lead or follow a team for the success of a show.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions of supervisors.
