What are the responsibilities and job description for the NDT Level II and EHS Technician WASHINGTON STATE position at Q.E.D. Systems?
Salary Range: $28 – $32 per hour
Job Description: The candidate will be a direct report to the Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager or Quality Manager, (depending upon past experience) in Bremerton, WA and will provide support to Project Supervisors, Foremen, and others as required. The candidate will ensure corporate technical and quality standards and contractual requirements are met; improved approaches and methods are considered; and process commonality is introduced and maintained. The candidate will ensure that required documentation is recorded, analyzed, and submitted to meet contract EHS requirements. The candidate will test and evaluate environmental conditions including Shipyard Competent Person duties. The candidate will provide deckplate oversight of work place EHS practices and conduct regular “job box” briefings on relevant EHS topics.
The candidate will also perform inspections, set up and standardize equipment, determine the acceptability of materials and components inspected, interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specification, and document and report inspections in accordance with the applicable NDT specifications or standards.
Job Requirements/skill sets: Preferred experience includes 5 years of ship repair experience; basic understanding of OSHA 1910 and 1915 regulations; calibration and use of combustible Gas Meters; Shipyard Competent Person certification; AHERA class; air monitoring methodology; mitigation tactics in a shipboard environment. Maintain NDT Level II VT certification per the requirements for training and experience as shown in Table 3.3.1A of the ASNT Recommended Practice SNT-TC-1A (Current edition). PT and MT Level II is desirable. Candidate must be capable of achieving and maintaining certifications as required. Ability to speak forthrightly in front of a group of peers a huge plus. The education requirements of NAVSEA Standard Item 009-08 must be met within two years of selection.
Education Requirements: HS Diploma or equivalent and OSHA-10 certificate. Shipyard Competent Person, AHERA, HAZWOPER, and OSHA 5410 preferred. NDT Level II prior certification a plus. Current or prior NBPI certification a plus.
Security Clearance/Naval Facility Access: U.S. citizenship required. Must be able to meet and maintain eligibility for U.S. Secret Clearance and/or be able to access military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards.
