What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAD Designer (Electrical and Mechanical) position at Q-Lab Corporation?
Q-Lab Corporation is currently seeking an Electro-Mechanical CAD Designer. Reporting to the Engineering Implementation Manager, this position will be responsible for the drafting and design of diverse projects in all aspects of our manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have solid CAD drafting skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at once.
Responsibilities:
- Design 3D models of parts and assemblies. These may be from existing drawings or new conceptual designs
- Draw electrical and plumbing diagrams using industry standard symbols
- Measure and reverse engineer parts or assemblies
- Create detailed 2D drawings from 3D models
- Produce and maintain Bills of Materials in our ERP system
- Interact with internal customers, vendors and engineering support staff
- Develop working knowledge of all Q-Lab Product Lines and the construction of interrelated parts and assemblies
- Create conceptual and detailed designs for Engineering Projects as directed
Required Skills/Experience:
- Associates in Mechanical Design, or equivalent
- Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and Vault or equivalent
- Proficiency in 3D design skills and design translation
- Proficiency in developing 2D drawings from 3D models
- Proficiency in industry standard dimensioning and tolerancing
- Working knowledge of fabrication methods: sheet metal forming, machining, welding, etc
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Strong time management skills; ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
Desired Skills:
- Prior experience with fabrication or manufacturing environment preferred
- Working knowledge in electro-mechanical systems: heaters, motors, 3-phase power, machine controls wiring
- Working knowledge in pneumatic and fluid control systems: solenoid valves, actuators, regulators, flow meters, pumps, nozzles
- Troubleshooting and problem solving
- Working knowledge of change control workflows
