Q Products & Services is seeking an innovative and hands-on R&D Thermal Engineer to develop thermal protective products for the transportation industry. This role involves designing and manufacturing sustainable packaging components for cold-chain shipping of food and pharmaceutical products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in thermo-fluid sciences and thermal testing equipment.
This is an onsite position at Hazel Crest, IL.
Essential Functions
- Lead R&D efforts for thermal analysis, new product development, and improving current production methods.
- Conduct analytical modeling to predict thermal systems performance.
- Draft proposals, write papers, and present research findings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Evaluate thermal analysis results and provide feedback and design direction.
- Set goals and develop project plans for analyzing material properties and thermal performance impact.
- Write technical protocols and reports to document test procedures and results of R&D studies.
- Occasionally interface with customers to explain modeling approaches, results, and analysis.
- Research and compare new and emerging technologies relevant to new or existing products and processes.
- Work with external vendors to understand capabilities, limitations, and user requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related heat transfer discipline.
- 3 years of industry experience (all experience levels considered).
- Strong background in thermo-fluid sciences, both modeling and experimental.
- Experience with thermal testing equipment is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in thermal analysis using CAE and Finite Element Modeling (FEM).
- Knowledge of heat transfer and thermal principles in conduction and convection.
- Good problem-solving skills involving multiple variables.
- Background in Design of Experiments is helpful.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently on multiple projects.
- Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Excellent written, spoken, and listening communication skills.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds unassisted and work in various physical environments.
- Up to 10% travel may be required.
Compensation/Benefits:
