This position involves executing moderately complex inspection duties associated with a range of heavy civil engineering projects, with construction values between $1 million and $15 million. The role requires the performance of various technical tasks in both field and office settings, employing independent judgment and decision-making. The candidate will assume the role of Resident Project Representative (RPR) on active construction projects. Key responsibilities include monitoring and enforcing the contractor's work to ensure compliance with standard specifications and contract requirements, conducting necessary testing according to policy, and maintaining expected quality. Work is conducted under limited supervision. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated construction documentation experience and a thorough understanding of the owner's representative role. They must possess the versatility to inspect diverse work elements and provide observations and reports regarding project quality, progress, and safety. This position will report to the resident engineer or their designated representative.
**Responsibilities:**
- Monitor and inspect construction activities.
- Compile and review daily inspector reports, track and calculate quantities, and reconcile payment items.
- Review and coordinate processes for material sampling, testing, and certification of compliance.
- Oversee and manage traffic maintenance.
- Coordinate photographic documentation to track daily project progress.
- Collaborate with engineers, professionals, and infrastructure authorities on federal, state, regional, local, and privately funded improvement and development projects.
- Execute additional responsibilities as dictated by business needs.
- Exercise responsible and ethical judgment concerning company funds, resources, and conduct, in accordance with the QA-Inspections Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
**Required Qualifications:**
- A high school diploma.
- A minimum of 10 years of construction inspection and documentation experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Exceptional time management, verbal, and written communication skills.
- A valid driver's license.
- A proven history of upholding workplace safety and the ability to adhere to QA-Inspections health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies. Occasional travel may be necessary based on project-specific requirements.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- An Associate of Science degree in Engineering, Environmental Technology, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Practical familiarity with Site Manager, Field Manager, APPIA, Doc Express software, or comparable platforms for construction management. NETTCP HMA Certification is desirable.
- Knowledge of construction materials, including asphalt, soils, and concrete quality assurance methods and procedures.
- A balanced combination of inspection and documentation experience. - Above-average proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Fulcrum, Procore, CAD, and Bluebeam
This position is contingent upon client approval of candidates submitted for consideration by QA-Inspections. Candidates may be assigned to projects that are commutable or require overnight travel.
