In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality custom builds, ensuring every vehicle showcases excellence in craftsmanship. Key responsibilities assembly and installation of suspension, brakes, engine, and drivetrain components with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring each vehicle meets the highest standards of performance and craftmanship. We’re looking for a candidate with in-depth knowledge of complete drivetrain systems, proficiency in diagnosing and resolving issues within mechanical systems, and strong working knowledge of carburetor and fuel injection systems. What You Will Do:
- Assemble and install suspension and brake systems to ensure they are fully functional.
- Assemble and install the engine, transmission, drivetrain, and related components to achieve a “first start” configuration.
- Install and seal items such as valve covers, oil pans, transmission pans, and differential covers to create a leak-free final assembly.
- Identify and correct mechanical issues to ensure high-quality functionality.
- Create show car quality plumbing for complete vehicle systems, including cooling, fuel, and brake systems.
- Assist with the reassembly of body, suspension, and interior components, ensuring precision and care.
- Maintain a clean, organized, professional workspace, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Work closely with other technicians to ensure an exceptional custom build.
- Stay current with industry trends, tools, and techniques to continuously improve quality and efficiency.
- Other duties as beneficial to the success of QA1.
The Critical Skills and Experience You’ll Need:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3 years in a mechanical capacity, preferably in restoration/custom car field; personal hobby experience welcomed.
- Experience with bending and fabricating stainless steel hard lines and/or wiring is a plus.
- Proficient in diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues, with in-depth knowledge of drivetrain systems.
- Ability to adhere to manufacturer's tolerances and specifications, with strong working knowledge of carburetor and fuel injection systems.
- Ownership of basic hand tools for vehicle assembly and disassembly.
- Commitment to brand excellence, representing Detroit Speed & Engineering, with a strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Efficient work habits, meeting billable hours’ goals while maintaining high-quality standards; willingness to work overtime to meet deadlines.
- Basic computer skills along with basic math, reading, and English communication skills
- Comfortable working independently or as part of a team, maintaining efficiency under high-demand conditions.
