PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Responsible for activities involving production planning, material supply, and work order management. Determines order material readiness and generates work orders to meet customer requirements. Creates plans for product rework through analysis of product BOM structure and works with engineering and operations to ensure capability and readiness. Drives solutions for issues related to material supply and customer service level.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for material support status including identification and reporting of material shortages and tracking of in-bound shipments.
- Highlights and expedites material shortages through the procurement team.
- Creates the production build plan considering capacity, customer orders, and projected material status.
- Determines clear to build status for Work Order release to production.
- Plans, communicates and coordinates the release of Work Orders to optimize material clear to build status, utilization of capacity, and support of customer requirements.
- Supports rework project by reviewing requirements and analysis of product BOM structure to determine parts to remove and parts to add to complete the rework, and generates rework work orders.
- Works with engineering and operations to create work instructions, establish system transactions, provide packaging requirements, complete training of operators, and ensure all aspects of the rework project are considered and readiness of operations prior to rework work order release.
- Maintains consistent and open communication of status and issues with management and co-workers.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- BS or BA degree –Materials, Operations, or Business preferred.
- 2-4 yrs experience and knowledge of a variety of manufacturing activities including procurement, planning, and production/capacity planning.
- Understanding of Bill of Materials and work order processing.
- Proficiency in MS Office software (especially excel) required.
- Strong facilitation and problem solving skills with the ability to make independent decisions while working in a team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and able to interact in a professional manner with internal and external customers.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- ERP System experience, SAP is a significant advantage.
- Experience with international sourcing strongly preferred.
- Ability to speak Mandarin Chinese a definite plus.
- APICS CPIM/CPM certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Able to sit at desk and use/view computer for prolonged periods of time, up to 8 hours daily.
