This is a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our major, global pharmaceutical client on their latest new-build project based in Ohio, this is a large-scale greenfield capital project and investing more than $1bn.
Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive mechanical design packages for utility systems, ensuring alignment with project specifications and regulatory standards.
- Prepare and issue detailed scope of work packages for tendering and procurement processes.
- Generate and review engineering deliverables, including piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment layouts, utility distribution plans, and system schematics.
- Conduct feasibility studies and technical evaluations to determine optimal mechanical solutions for utility systems.
- Ensure designs incorporate energy efficiency and sustainability considerations.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including process engineering, construction, and procurement, to align project objectives with utility system requirements.
- Provide technical support during the installation, commissioning, and qualification (C&Q) phases of utility systems.
- Liaise with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure proper execution of mechanical utility installations.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for all mechanical utility-related queries and issues.
- Ensure all utility designs comply with relevant building codes, industry standards (ASHRAE, ASME, ISO), and GMP guidelines where applicable.
- Conduct technical reviews and ensure quality control of mechanical deliverables to meet project specifications.
- Experience in pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with energy-efficient utility design and sustainable engineering solutions.
- Experience with tendering and procurement processes in capital projects.
- Knowledge of construction methodologies and site coordination practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or equivalent experience.
- Experience with piping and utility system design in pharmaceutical, industrial, or commercial facilities.
- Proficiency with engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar.
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
