Position Summary
Fast-growing solar operations & maintenance company seeking an experienced Manager, Commercial Assets to join our operations team. Reporting to the Director, Commercial Assets, the Manager, Commercial Assets is a first-level manager accountable for leading a team of Portfolio Leads and Performance Analysts that are focused on excellent customer service, successful management of solar site operations, and meeting/exceeding the negotiated service-level requirements for every internal and external client engagement.
Success will come from your excellent project and people management skills and familiarity with solar O&M and performance modeling, as well as cultivating trusting relationships with our customers and taking full accountability and ownership over your team’s projects. Exemplary Managers, Commercial Assets are detail-oriented, customer-focused, diligent, intellectually curious, highly adaptable, and possess strong leadership, communication, time management, and technical writing skills. The Manager, Commercial Assets will oversee numerous day-to-day matters as well as longer-term projects and scheduling.
Essential Duties
1. Managing and providing daily oversight and direction to a team of 6-12 Portfolio Leads and Performance Analyst assigned to PV project portfolios and battery storage systems (BESS) including all operations, preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. Moving projects/portfolios ahead through managerial courage, candor, and ability to stand alone. Ensuring project continuity in the event resources shift or are re-deployed during a project’s life cycle. Works with Director, advisors, consultants, clients, and other QE Solar team members to evolve and continuously improve processes, practices, and services. Coordinates with regional subcontractors on larger remediation or repair work.
2. Participating in hiring and employee performance management. Providing employee coaching, training, and providing feedback whenever necessary. Conducting regular team progress meetings, weekly 1:1 meeting, and end-of-year performance reviews.
3. Understanding full contract scope of all assigned customers. Determining resources needed to complete within required time frame and/or if client requests are out of contracted scope. Ensuring all O&M contract scope requirements and deadlines are met or exceeded. Escalating concerns to ensure that all O&M activities stay on schedule. Regular auditing of contract compliance, PM progress and report quality, CM/ticketing quality, performance reports, real-time site data, and estimates/invoices using internal CRM and other software platforms.
4. Coordinating new customer/portfolio/site onboarding and file management with internal and external resources as needed. Discussing with existing customers to secure O&M contracts for future/additional projects.
5. Recognizing where efficiencies can be gained in internal processes including but not limited to scheduling, dispatching, reporting, customer service, etc. Creating, gathering, and recording details for QE Solar knowledge base. Updating and maintaining QE systems, records, operating processes, procedures, and guidelines.
6. Hosting weekly scheduling calls with Manager, Field Operations and the Portfolio Leads in the region to ensure field resources are both adequate and allocated appropriately.
7. Performing any other responsibilities as directed by upper management.
Position Requirements
Education Required:
· BS in Engineering or other technical field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience Required:
· 5 years of experience working in the renewables industry
· Specialized or Technical Knowledge Licenses, Certifications Preferred: Ability to read and understand electrical/mechanical diagrams, project design drawings and other system construction documents
· OSHA 30 Certification
· Completion of NFPA 70E courses
· CPR/First Aid
Functional Knowledge:
· Hands on technical skills with field, operations and construction experience preferred
· Proficient with CRM systems, MS Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
· Good communication skills, both written and oral
· Must have clean background, driver’s license and professional demeanor
· References upon request
· Company/Industry Related Knowledge: Knowledge of the NEC (National Electrical Code) strongly desired
