Job Description
At PPG, a leading Construction Services Company and subsidiary of Quanta Services Inc., we are seeking an experienced Project Site Engineer to join our in-house engineering team.
About PPG
PPG is a sister company of QISG under the parent Quanta Services, Inc. We specialize in the installation of utility and industrial process infrastructure including substations, power generation, industrial process facilities, and renewable fuel projects in North America.
Project Overview
We are currently planning, negotiating, and executing EPC contracts for large electrical infrastructure projects, including HVDC substations, and complex industrial projects in the western US, targeting a start date of 3Q/4Q 2024.
Responsibilities
- Act as the main technical expert on site, offering guidance to construction crews and subcontractors.
- Making sure that the project adheres to engineering and design specifications, industry standards, and construction regulations.
- Identifying potential risks and implementing preventive measures to minimize project delays, cost overruns and safety hazards.
- Maintain accurate project documentation for field markup.
- Support plan review and approval process with local and state municipalities, as required.
- Report to Project Engineering Manager and Project Manager on status of open issues.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of relevant field experience in the construction of large high voltage substations.
- Strong technical background in the installation and operation of electrical equipment and associated subsystems.
- Familiarity with high, medium and low voltage installations, substation design, grounding, protection.
- Ability to collaborate with project team members and client entities, demonstrating leadership capabilities to ensure a successful project.
Travel Requirements
~10% travel to the Paramus, NJ Headquarters.
