As an Adaptive Sports and Recreation PAID Intern (year-long position), you will be in a unique position to positively impact someone’s therapy journey. You will be exposed to innovative solutions while implementing creative therapeutic activities alongside a collaborative multi-disciplinary team. Some of the variety to your day might include:
- Adaptive cycling, archery, rock-climbing
- Jet-skiing, kayaking, sailing, swimming
- Hunting, fishing, horseback riding
- Wheelchair sports, bowling, rugby
Join the Adaptive Sports and Recreation Team during your Gap Year to engage in experiential learning for students considering careers within healthcare. Your experience will allow you to partake in an exceptional approach to rehabilitation as you gain real-world knowledge and familiarity with several complementary divisions within our healthcare organization. You will benefit from side-by-side learning with clinicians from different specialties. **Our interns have the same opportunities as other team members, including benefits, paid CNA training and professional development classes.**
This paid internship opportunity will allow you to challenge your comfort zone by expanding your experiential education with situations that cannot be simulated in a classroom. You will be exposed to a multitude of cultures and new ways of thinking and connecting with others. You will increase your relational skills, both self-to-others and self-to self. You will rekindle your innate curiosity of your career aspirations while contributing to serving others.
Location: 6404 N 70th Plaza, Omaha, NE 68104 (remote work not available)
Schedule: Full time; fixed schedule with some variations for activities (may include some evening hours or a weekend shift)
- Time Frame: This is a year long internship, so candidates must be available from May 2025 to May 2026. This internship is NOT available for just the summer.
COVID -19 Considerations: No COVID vaccination requirement
Flu Considerations: Must commit to receiving current year flu vaccination
Requirements:
- Education requirements: High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- College Major requirements: Open to any major, but have a desire to work in the healthcare field
- Certification requirements: Certified to work in Nebraska as a nursing assistant. (required) We offer PAID training for the right candidate if you do not have your certification yet.
- Previous work experience: Not required
- ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT: As part of our thorough evaluation process, you will be asked within the application screening questions to provide a response to; "What would being selected to the Adaptive Sports and Recreation Internship program mean to you?"
