Home Health Aide (HHA) – Weekend Shift
📍 Location: Washington, DC
📌 Status: Part-time, Weekends Only (Non-Exempt)
👥 Reports to: Home Care Coordinator (RN)
About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Home Health Aide (HHA) to provide essential weekend care and support to elderly participants in a PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) program. This role involves assisting participants with daily living activities, monitoring their well-being, and fostering a safe, supportive environment. The HHA will work closely with an interdisciplinary care team and serve participants either in their homes or within our center.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Assist participants with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, hair and mouth care, eating, nail care, and toileting.
✅ Follow the facility/home care schedule for weekend assignments.
✅ Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to support participant care planning.
✅ Provide escorting services for participants within the community as needed.
✅ Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) programs to enhance care standards.
✅ Adhere to infection control protocols and safety regulations.
✅ Maintain accurate documentation of services provided and participant progress.
✅ Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
✅ Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
📌 Experience:
✔️ Minimum one (1) year of experience working with a frail or elderly population (preferred).
✔️ Experience in long-term care or a community-based geriatric program (preferred).
📌 Skills & Abilities
✔️ Knowledge of the needs and challenges of elderly individuals.
✔️ Ability to communicate effectively with participants, families, and healthcare professionals.
✔️ Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a caring approach in providing care.
✔️ Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and adapt to participant needs.
✔️ Strong organizational and time-management skills.
✔️ Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
📌 Education & Certification
✔️ High school diploma or GED required.
✔️ Active Home Health Aide (HHA) certification in Washington, DC required.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
🔹 Requires frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and assisting with mobility.
🔹 Exposure to varied indoor temperatures, potential hazards, and communicable diseases.
🔹 Must be able to work weekend shifts as scheduled.
