Position Summary: Submit and monitor purchase orders to ensure timely delivery. Work closely with Sales/Customer Service to provide accurate ETA and lead time information. Work with suppliers to expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems. Negotiate with suppliers to achieve the best prices and lead times. Collaborate with Supply Chain Planners to optimize order fulfilment to best meet customer needs.
- Process requisitions and purchase orders for stock and custom products. Verify what needs to be included on the purchase orders (i.e., size, color, packaging, special instructions, etc.).
- Monitor, review, and track open orders to ensure timely delivery.
- Update POs with current and accurate delivery information.
- Work closely with Customer Service and Sales teams to keep them updated on any changes to incoming purchase orders.
- Expedite or delay orders when needed.
- Coordinate payment in advance for orders with Accounts Payable.
- Work to resolve any delivery and quality issues with suppliers.
- Work with the Receiving department to resolve any issues regarding incoming shipments.
- Perform data maintenance to ensure accurate information is noted in our ERP system.
- Work with Logistics to determine the most cost-effective mode of delivery and to arrange shipments in a timely manner.
- Build and maintain good relationships with suppliers and negotiate pricing, lead time, special requirements, etc.
- Inform Sales/Product Development of any price increases.
- Process change notification requests in response to supplier item discontinuations or product changes.
- Review quote opportunities generated by Sales and provide best possible vendor costs as needed.
- Place Overhead Purchase Orders when needed.
- Participate in department projects when needed.
Education/Technical Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
- Proficient in MS Excel, Teams, Outlook.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to changes in scheduling, tasks, and priorities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
