What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Representative position at QStar Technology, LLC?
Why QStar Technology:
QStar Technology has been an innovator and market leader for over 20 years, producing and selling our solutions to municipal markets across the U.S. Our technology provides cities with a proactive way to reduce graffiti, vandalism, illegal dumping, metal theft, and other public safety issues—improving quality of life in communities nationwide.
We foster a collaborative, team-driven culture with a strong emphasis on work-life balance. This is not just another sales job—it’s a launchpad for your career. Whether you’re a recent college graduate or someone looking to pivot into sales, we offer training, mentorship, and a clear path to grow from this Business Development Representative position into a high-performing (and higher paying) Account Executive (AE) role by Year 2.
Job Summary:
This is an entry-level sales role with the potential for rapid advancement into a higher paying account executive - but only for the right person who demonstrates the aptitude and required qualifications. As a Business Development Representative, you’ll focus on cold outreach—emailing and calling prospects and leads, booking meetings, and helping build a pipeline for our Sales Director. You’ll also support marketing efforts and follow up after meetings to help close sales. Prior sales experience isn’t required— but strong communication skills, a great attitude, and the willingness to learn are.
This role demands resilience, creativity, and a positive temperament—the ability to handle objections and keep going with optimism. It's a good fit for someone who thrives under pressure, thinks outside the box, and wants to help solve real-world problems with innovative technology.
We’ve also built a clear 12–18 month path to grow into an Account Executive role. You’ll start by mastering outreach and booking meetings. As you progress, you’ll begin to lead demos, participate in strategic conversations, and eventually close deals of your own. This is a career opportunity—not just a BDR seat.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong work ethic— we don’t expect you to work overtime, but we do expect you to give 110% while working
- Genuine and Relational – continually seeking to build trust and credibility
- Curiosity– ask good questions and seek to understand
- Teachable— open to feedback and growth
- Confident— own your strengths and stay grounded

- Good attitude— uplift the team
- Resilient — bounce back from rejection
- Steady Temperament — maintain performance and mindset through the ups and downs of sales
Other Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- 1–3 years of experience in any professional setting (sales/marketing is a plus, but not required)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to multitask and work under pressure
- Mastery of the essential tools of the trade like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Familiarity with CRMs like HubSpot, Salesforce, or Zoho is a bonus
Job Responsibilities
