Job Requirements
We are seeking an adaptable and motivated individual to join our accounting team. This position is open to candidates at different levels of experience, ranging from junior to senior accountants but must have solid accounting skills; job costing or project accounting skills. The level of responsibility and compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
This role will be responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Prepare and post daily bank transfers, positive pay and report daily cash activities.
Prepare and record payroll entries and process 401(k) and HSA transactions.
Prepare and post monthly journal entries (i.e., depreciation, prepaid, accruals,…).
Monthly reconciliations (i.e., bank, GL, WIP,…).
Review payroll supporting documentation prior to submission to Paychex.
Cross-train and serve as back up to payroll and invoice team.
Assist Controller in completing month-end and annual close process.
Prepare financial records in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
Ensure financial reporting deadlines are met.
Assist in preparation and distribution of financial management reports.
Prepare and analyze designated balance sheet account reconciliations and identify potential issues.
Enter fixed assets and reconcile G/L and sub ledger.
Prepare analysis of general ledger detail reports to managers and executives.
Assist in year-end closing and auditing activities (i.e., workers’ compensation, 401(k), FAR, cash basis tax returns,…).
Assist or manage other projects and ad hoc issues as assigned.
Assist in implementing new procedures and ensuring adherence to current procedures.
Works closely with Human Resources on all payroll, benefits, and 401k issues.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 2 years of experience in full-cycle general ledger accounting close process and financial data analysis.
Knowledge of day-to-day accounting transactions and functions.
Experience with Paychex and Sage Fixed Asset software a plus.
Solid knowledge of invoicing and data entry.
Strong MS Excel, Word and Office skills.
Knowledge of Deltek Vantagepoint or Deltek Vision a plus.
Ability to communicate clearly to colleagues and upper management.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Adaptable skills with the ability to take on new technology.
Must have the ability to multi-task while ensuring attention to detail.
Must be highly dependable and a fast learner.
The ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
Adept at gathering data, compiling information, and preparing reports.
Ability to take the initiative and be proactive.
The ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
