QTEC Aerospace is seeking a SYSTEMS ENGINEER (LINK-16 INTERFACE SME) to join our team of professionals in Colorado Springs, CO. The successful candidate will become part of a team of professionals representing both industry and government in support of a Missile Defense System (MDS) with a mission of protecting the United States and our allies. Job Summary
QTEC Aerospace is looking for highly capable and motivated individuals. The successful candidate will function as an integral member of a multi-contractor team providing program, engineering, and technical support to Missile Defense programs. The chosen candidate will be the Link-16 SME and Interface Engineer and will lead in authoring the development of ICDs and IDDs, especially Link-16 related. The candidate will be assigned to the Systems Engineering Team within SEIT.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:
- Authoring Link-16 ICDs and IDDs and providing expertise to the interface developers within the software team on the integration of Link-16 messaging
- Establishing new interfaces between external elements, including sensors and other Command and Control Systems
- Ensure the ICDs and IDDs created are to the appropriate standards required of the program
- Expected to develop various behavioral diagrams to understand and document the requirements
- Create requirements captured in DOORS and sufficient detail to provide a clear understanding to the implementation teams
- Primary responsibility will be developing and updating multiple Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Interface Design Documents (IDDs)
- Attend interface working group meetings with MDA customers and representatives of assigned external element engineering organizations, as well as support program integration and test-related efforts for the associated interface
- May also be assigned to support other interface engineers in developing ICDs for other BMDS Elements, support requirements engineering, use case development, and logical architecture modeling tasks as SE department tasking requires
- Support spiral leadership to ensure interface artifacts and system assessment tasks required for the assigned sensor interface are completed when required
- Some Travel Required
- Will be, at times, called to support non-interface systems engineering activities
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in Math, Science, Engineering, or Software Engineering with at least 9 years of professional experience in Systems Engineering or related discipline
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding and demonstrated experience in the development of Link-16 interfaces and messaging
- Familiarity and demonstrated knowledge of MIL-STD-6016 and its derivatives
- Experience in authoring Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Interface Design Documents (IDDs) in accordance with Link-16 Standards
- Understanding of systems engineering processes and principles
- Proven track record of successfully applying system engineering principles to develop product solutions
- Experience in requirements elicitation, including the use of behavior diagrams as an analysis tool to understand and decompose requirements
- Demonstrated Systems Engineering skills and experience with interface engineering, including authoring of Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Interface Design Documents (IDDs), including message definition and processing rules, message formatting, physical/network specifications, and models, including the ISO OSI model; physical/network topologies and devices; network protocols
- Requirements engineering and development of behavioral models and diagrams, including use cases, sequence diagrams, and activity diagrams
- Requirements engineering, including experience working with IBM Rational's Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS)
- Risk Management Framework (RMF)-based cyber security and experience with Agile or Iterative Development Methods
- Significant experience in authoring Link-16 ICDs and IDDs that are DID compliant and to DoD Standards
- Must be able to function as part of an experienced team in developing systems engineering products and artifacts while adhering to the Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) program and other processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and prepare and brief presentations to the customer as needed
- Self-starter with ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Master's Degree in an Engineering Discipline
- Experience authoring Missile Defense System (MDS) ICDs and IDDs
- Experience authoring Complex Command and Control Systems ICDs and IDDs
Security Clearance
Candidates must currently have and be able to maintain a minimum DoD SECRET level security clearance.
