The Quabbin Regional School District is seeking a compassionate, dedicated Middle School Therapeutic Classroom Teacher for the 2025=26 school year. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges, and a passion for supporting their academic, social, and emotional development. As the therapeutic classroom teacher, you will provide a safe and structured learning environment that promotes emotional regulation, positive behavior, and academic success for students with diverse needs.Responsibilities: Deliver individualized and group instruction per IEP. Academic support provided for content area classes.Implement individualized behavior intervention plans and use evidence-based therapeutic strategies to support students in managing their emotions and behavior.Work closely with the schools general education teachers, counselor, BCBA, and administrators to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
Incorporate social-emotional learning (SEL) activities into daily instruction to foster emotional regulation, problem-solving skills, and positive interpersonal relationships.Respond to and manage crises in a calm and professional manner, using de-escalation techniques and supporting students in returning to a productive learning environment.Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress, behavior, and goals. Work collaboratively with parents to ensure consistency between home and school.Create and maintain a positive, supportive, and structured classroom environment that encourages student growth, respect, and academic achievement.Qualifications: Valid teaching certification for special education at the middle school level At least 2 years of experience working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges, preferably in a therapeutic classroom or special education setting.Skills: Strong knowledge of therapeutic techniques and behavior management strategies.Experience with IEP development and implementation.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of professionals, students, and families.Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Salary and benefits in accordance with the QRTA collective bargaining agreement.
