Project Technician Grounds Maintenance

1.Experience in grounds maintenance and must have a Massachusetts Hydraulics License and must be willing to take the Massachusetts Pesticide Applicators License Exam. 2.Responsible to maintaining assigned areas; lawns, athletic fields, driveways, equipment repairs and service. 3.In keeping with District-Wide standards of excellence, must be able to mow lawns and fields, pruning of trees and shrubs, lining of athletic fields, snow removal of driveways and sidewalks. 4.Must have the ability to use various types of grounds equipment, both powered and non-powered. 5.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as either the School Committee or Superintendent may find acceptable 6.Must be able to lift 60 lbs. and be walking or standing the entire shift, must be able to do snow removal. 7.Must be flexible in hours due to snow storms, school events, or other district events (mainly 6:00am-2:00pm) or for example 3:00am for snow removal. Specific Job Duties/Requirements: 1.Basic knowledge of carpentry and electrical •Ability to drive a truck and trailer •Must have a DOT Medical Card •Must have at least a 2A or 2B hoisting license •Must have a Pesticides Applicator’s license 2.General Maintenance •Mowing and weed whacking school grounds •Maintaining athletic fields to required heights per sport •Trash/litter control throughout the school campus •Pruning of shrubs and trees •Weeding of beds throughout the campus •Applying fertilization •Snow removal/salting on all sidewalks at the middle/high school and central office 3.Athletic Field Maintenance •Aerating •Thatching •Initial athletic field setup •Fertilizations •Nail dragging •Painting and maintaining field lines 4.Equipment Maintenance •Preventative maintenance (oil changes, filters, belts, etc) on all district equipment •Ability to sharpen and change blades on equipment •Ability to diagnose problems with equipment and determine the corrective actions Salary based on exeperience. Range ($21.28 - $30.34 per hour) in accordance with the AFSCME Council 93 Local 425 AFL-CIO (Custodial Maintenance) collective bargaining agreement.
