General Cafeteria Worker Substitute Job Description
Job Goal: To provide meals to each child with the highest nutritious quality in an atmosphere of cleanliness, cheerfulness and personal caring.
Qualifications:
-Applicants must be willing to learn and successfully perform all tasks involved in working in the cafeteria
-Previous school food service experience a plus
-Must be able to comprehend verbal and written instructions
Responsibilities:
-Assists in general operation of the program (serving students and staff, restocking serving lines, washing pots, operating dish machine, cash register/POS computer,
laundry etc.)
-Assists in the cleaning of kitchen
-Assists in food preparation as necessary
-Assists in putting stock a way and inventory control
Physical Requirements:
The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, climbing stairs and a step stool whenever necessary. Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling objects. The position requires lifting of 40 pounds on a frequent basis and over 40 pounds occasionally. The applicant is expected to wear vinyl gloves and proper hair restraints when serving and working with food. The occupant is expected to follow the uniform policy set by the Director of Food Services.
