What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Supervisor position at Quad Cities MetroLink?
MetroLINK's Operations Supervisor oversees all aspects of daily transit operations for approximately 80 Operators.
Essential Functions:
- Supervises, directs, assists, plans, organizes, assigns and coordinates work of fixed route, specialized transportation and contracted services operations staff.
- Assists in the selection, discipline and termination of staff.
- Analyzes and compiles data from lists and logs; configures data and writes activity reports; briefs subordinate staff on issues, programs and activities.
- Coordinates and schedules activities to ensure efficient and effective service.
- Coordinates security of facilities; monitors compliance, resolves issues and recommends improvements/enhancements.
- Updates route information to account for accidents, detours, construction, traffic and special events; coordinates special services.
- Directs computer dispatch center activities; sends route transfers, monitors bus locations using GPS to control lane routes and missed passengers.
- Analyzes, investigates, and responds to issues and concerns.
- Provides field observation and supervision of transit operations; monitors schedule and route compliance; investigates collisions and other incidents; monitors street conditions and establishes route detours as required.
- Assists in random and post-accident drug screening of staff in accordance with established regulations and policies.
- Review operation inspection reports; coordinates and oversees communication between operations and maintenance functions; facilitate bus trades for buses in field with service issues.
- Trains, assigns and evaluates the performance of assigned staff; develop, coordinate and conduct in-service training to staff on policies and procedures.
- Ensures accurate and timely submission of payroll data.
- Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with management, customers, contractors, and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a team.
Education and Experience:
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent.
- 3 - 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Ability to obtain a Class B CDL with passenger and air brake endorsement.
- Skilled in developing effective work teams and motivating individuals to meet goals and objectives.
- Skilled in analyzing problems/issues and reaching effective solutions.
Salary : $60,000 - $70,046
