Job Summary:

Our Manager of Human Resources is our go-to person for all employee-related issues and, as such, is integral to the success of our organization. They handle the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department for Main Street Iowa (Quad Cities River Bandits) and Main Street Amusements (amusements operator at the ballpark). Because people are our most important asset, our new Manager of HR will be the one responsible for ensuring that our ballpark boasts a happy and productive workplace where everyone works together to realize our teams’ established goals and objectives.


They will be tasked with strategic planning for staffing, including hiring new personnel and conducting interviews to foster a productive work atmosphere. They will also be charged with enforcing company policies and practices, as well as administering benefits and leave in coordination with the Director of Finance & HR. The Manager of HR will also plan, develop, and coordinate the policies of the team to ensure legal compliance and implementation of the organization’s mission and talent strategies. Most importantly, our new Manager of HR will be responsible for promoting our team’s values and shaping a positive, friendly, and welcoming culture at our ballpark.  This position is a highly collaborative, self-driven position that requires a high degree of focus, planning and organization.


Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Assists in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring new staff for team.
  • Facilitates constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Works with Senior Management to discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policies.
  • Responsible for all onboarding.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, surveys, and HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the organization’s business strategy to support its human resource compliance needs.
  • Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave in coordination with the Director of Finance & HR; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Bridges management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, or other issues.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • At least one year of human resource management experience required.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.


Job Type: Full-time

Salary Range: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
