What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shift Supervisor position at Quad?

Primary responsibility for the overall production, quality, maintenance, and safety of a shift in the Packaging Plant. Monitors schedules, provide direction to crews to meet production goals maximize efficiency and profitability, and ensure policies and procedures are followed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for overseeing a particular shift, including but not limited to personnel/employee issues, crewing, and scheduling issues. Employs appropriate strategies to meet production goals, reduce labor costs, and maximize efficiency. Maximizes floor time to maintain visibility and accessibility to employees. Performs evaluations and resolves issues and conflicts.
- Deals with internal and external customers daily including addressing customer concerns and attending or hosting meetings with business partners and employees.
- Involved in forecasting production volume, and monitoring performance and profitability of the department. Employs strategies to identify areas for improvement and develop solutions.
- Works daily with the Department Head to assess department capabilities, workflow, resources, and any issues that may be affecting production.
- Participates in LEAN training and activities, maintains a high degree of technical knowledge of our department capabilities, teaches classes, trains and develops employees, and works with business partners on educational materials and training process. Strives for and seeks out opportunities for personal development.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in both written and verbal communication individually and in a group setting.
- Knowledge of manufacturing equipment preferably in print and or packaging.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years of supervisory in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of Labman systems
