Licensed Practical Nurse - Ambulatory Care

Pay From: $27 per hour
MUST:
Experienced Licensed Practical Nurse
1 years of professional experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse
1 years of professional experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse in an ambulatory care setting, including experience with homeless or other special needs populations
Experience in/passion for public health and community nursing
Ability to perform well in high-pressure or stressful situations
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations
Demonstrated proficiency with business software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
The position requires the incumbent to be able to move easily about the health center; some walking, bending and the carrying of light items are required
Current DC Licensed Practical Nurse license
Current BLS/CPR certification
Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing School
DUTIES:
Obtains vital signs and initial patient history
Initiates the prescribed medical care plan on each patient
Assists with obtaining consultations and referrals with other agencies
Provides routine nursing procedures (i.e. finger stick blood studies, urinalyses, pregnancy tests, and venipuncture, when appropriate)
Administers and demonstrates immunization techniques and general knowledge of vaccination, where applicable
Assists with clinical/medical procedures (i.e. pelvic exam, I&D, and wound care)
Records, in a timely manner, documentation of medication administration and/or treatment rendered
Provides patient and family education
Assures that adequate medications and supplies are ordered as appropriate to allow efficient health Center functioning
Works and communicates with all of the staff to assure patient needs are met
