Nurse Practitioner - Physicians Assistant
Petersburg, VA
MUST:
Licensed Nurse Practitioner or PA in state of VA
Must have at least 1 year of work as a PA or NP
Experience working for a vascular practice a huge plus or experience working in renal, cardiovascular or similar specialty preferred
Experience With EHR Preferred.
DEA Licensure preferred
ACLS preferred
DUTIES:
Duties of the NP/PA include but are not limited to the following:
Assess patient needs
Deliver advanced nursing for patients with chronic kidney
Obtains patient history, performs physical exams, orders, interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests and lab values to identify and assess patient's health care needs.
Prescribe and order medications as needed including binders, iron, erythropoietin (EPO), anti-hypertensive medications and cholesterol lowering medications.
Assists physician with the treatment procedures for VV, DVT, PAD/PVD.
Assist with dialysis
Evaluates and manages patient's treatment to ensure treatment matches needs of patient. Engages in continuous education as treatment may change based on the clinical needs of patient.
Consults with patient post treatment to determine if additional treatment is needed.
Conducts Thoracentesis and Paracentesis treatments by draining pleural (Thora) and ascites (Para) fluid buildup that is usually associated with tumors in cancer patients.
Assists physician with Endo Venous Laser Treatments
Assists physician with the repair of fistula or grafts
Acts as first assist to physician in procedure suite for PICCS, ports, biopsies and center line placement.
Ensures patient admission packets are completed on every patient
