Role Description

As part of QuadReal's International team and reporting to the Senior Vice President, U.S. Debt Investments, the successful candidate will play an integral role in growing and driving QuadReal's Real Estate Debt Investments strategy and be responsible for 1) the sourcing, evaluation and execution of investments in the US market, with exposure to a variety of traditional and alternative asset classes, including logistics, multifamily, office, student housing, data centers, life science as well as situations involving platform-level investments and 2) supporting new International program initiatives, including but not limited to vertical integration, forming strategic partnerships, and other business development initiatives as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Mortgage Loan Origination

Source mortgage and mezzanine loan investment opportunities in-line with business and portfolio objectives

  • Underwrite financing opportunities, conduct and coordinate due-diligence
  • Make investment recommendations to Investment Committee(s) as necessary
  • Ensure transactions are closed to reflect IC approval(s)
  • Ensure alignment with QuadReal's strategic plan and goals
  • Cultivate and Manage Sponsor and Mortgage Banking Relationships
  • Develop and broaden QuadReal's account coverage

  • Optimize sourcing channels in-line with portfolio strategy
  • Manage Sponsor and Mortgage Banking relationships
  • Assist Head of U.S. Debt Investments Develop and Execute Business and Portfolio Objectives
  • Loan Product Development

  • Build a high-yield vehicle
  • Portfolio Construction
  • Portfolio Risk Management
  • Platform Investments
  • Assist Head of U.S. Debt Investments in building QuadReal's Brand and Market Presence
  • Actively develop and execute a business development program with Sponsors and Mortgage Bankers

  • Be a brand ambassador and represent QuadReal at industry conferences and other events
  • Grow QuadReal's U.S. lending footprint and market presence
  • Assist on Capital Markets Execution
  • Develop and execute on Loan Syndications relationships

  • Targeted Note Purchases / Sales and Portfolio Purchases / Sales
  • Advisory work on Structured Debt Investments for the Domestic and International Equity teams
  • Special Situations
  • Lead and mentor the debt team
  • Lead debt professional in Eastern U.S. region

  • Execute on deals and maximize impact through the leadership, delegation, mentorship and motivation of junior team members
  • Education & Experience :

  • Bachelor's Degree; preferably in Real Estate, Finance, Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive institutional level investment experience focusing on sourcing mortgage and mezzanine loan investment opportunities in the US.
  • Exposure to a diverse mix of real estate asset classes, corporate, debt, and structured real estate
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work, communicate and present effectively with a wide range of people, including senior management.
  • Collaborative and team-first orientation. Ability to build relationships and work effectively with external partners and internal teams from various backgrounds and across functional areas.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading the evaluation and execution of complex real estate transactions with meaningful contribution to the execution of broader investment strategies.
  • Self-starter, deep intellectual curiosity, strategic and critical thinker with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills and foundational real estate knowledge. Advanced user of Excel, Word, PowerPoint; proficient or familiar with ARGUS and Bloomberg.
  • Comfortable and effective in a high growth, fast-paced and fluid environment, able to shift priorities and adapt.
