Job Description

Position Overview

The Process Engineer will assist with product changes. The position will troubleshoot product issues related to manufacturability and then design and implement product enhancements. The position will also implement change to increase efficiency and optimize phases of the production processes. The Process Engineer investigates and implements product improvements and enhancements. The position will also assist with the rollout of new products on the plant floor.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Investigate product issues and provide solutions to the manufacturing processes
• Evaluate existing processes for improvements to reduce costs, boost productivity, quality and profitability
• Design and implement product enhancements
• Assist the manufacturing and Quality Control Teams with questions or concerns regarding quality control and manufacturing procedures to ensure product is being built properly
• Assist with process design projects
• Provide product training to internal team members
• Develop Best Practices within the production process
• Assist with rollout of new products on the plant floor
• Work with vendors on solutions to manufacturing improvements
• Ensure the efficient and safe functioning of all the processes to produce a product
• Collect, record and transcribe data, and show results in reports.
• Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
• Interact and communicate with employees and customers in an appropriate manner.
• Availability on site to confer with staff members with whom the employee must interact on a regular basis.
• Communicate via email, prepare reports and work schedules.
• Review and analyze data and information concerning product performance.
• Plan, prioritize and monitor product and process improvement activities.
• Complete assigned tasks/projects in a timely manner.

Supervisory Responsibility

No direct management or supervisory responsibilities.

Travel

Approximately <5% travel is required for professional development or commuting between the Quaker campuses.

Qualifications

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, Outlook
• Basic knowledge of Building & Energy Code requirements
• Proficient knowledge of how a product is manufactured
• Understanding of product terminology

Preferred Education and Experience

An individual is expected to have the minimum level of education and/or related expertise listed here:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering Field
• Experience with SolidWorks modeling design and engineering application is recommended
• Experience with AutoCAD Drafting software is recommended

This is primarily an office job with frequent visits to the production floor. Use of all ambulatory functions including standing, bending, crawling, stooping, twisting, reaching, crouching, stretching, and pulling. The employee may also occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. This position will occasionally require long periods of standing.

It is an essential job function and safety rule, applicable to every employee working in a safety sensitive classified position, to be able to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Work Environment

This job operates in a manufacturing and office environment. The employee will primarily be in an office setting, but while performing the duties of this job, the employee will need to visit the factory and be exposed to climactic variations, various levels of vibration, and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the office is usually low, but hearing protection may be advisable or required for prolonged visits to certain parts of the factory.
