Position Overview
The Research and Development Technician will assist in all phases of building new products and testing
product enhancements before the new product is launched. The position will assemble the initial design
prototypes to validate the design. The R&D Technician will gather materials or parts and then cut,
fabricate or prep the materials for the build. The position verifies if the assembly will meet the
manufacturing standards.
Duties And Responsibilities
No direct management or supervisory responsibilities.
Safety
Observe safety and security policies and procedures, including proper use of Personal Protective
Equipment including but not limited to eye and toe protection; report potentially unsafe conditions; and
use equipment and materials properly. Follow job-specific safety requirements such as Power and
Manual Tool Safety, Safe Product & Material Handling Guidelines, Scaffold and Ladder Safety, Hand
Safety and Safe Lift.
Travel
Approximately <5% travel is required for commuting between the Quaker campuses.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Assemble initial design prototypes for validation of design enhancements and new product
- Coordinate & request the materials or parts for Research & Development projects
- Participate in new product physical testing and installation
- Gather parts and supplies for building units. Operate a forklift when necessary.
- Cut rails of material, perform simple fabrications, and prep materials needed for product builds.
- Conduct all phases of product assembly including building frames, installing hardware, dropping
- Analyze data, troubleshoot equipment, conduct experiments & make adjustments to complete
- Verify assembly of products meets manufacturing standards.
- Identify potential improvements for new and existing products.
- Participate in the development of new product Standard Operating Procedures.
- Support and assist the more experienced Research & Development Project Manager
- Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
- Interact and communicate with employees and customers in an appropriate manner.
- Availability on site to confer with staff members with whom the employee must interact on a

- Review and analyze data and information concerning new product tests.
- Plan, prioritize and monitor new product assembly activities.
- Complete assigned tasks/projects in a timely manner.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, Outlook
- Ability to interpret and apply technical drawings, data and standards
- Knowledge of AutoCAD drafting software
- Proficient and safe use of power tools & measuring equipment
- Obtain and maintain forklift certification

- High School Diploma or a Passed General Education Development Test
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 3-5 Years Manufacturing Experience (preferably in the Window and Door industry)
