Position Overview
The Machinery Design Engineer will engage in a varied technical arena spanning mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and system control competencies. The position applies engineering principles to design, modify or develop industrial machines or equipment. The Machinery Design Engineer will analyze engineering proposals, process requirements and related technical data pertaining to design. They will also create 3D layouts and fabrication prints.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design new and modify current machinery using Computer Aided Design or CAD Software
- Create 3D layouts and fabrication prints using CAD Software according to design specifications
- Analyze the requirements related to each project and design and develop efficient solutions
- Analyze equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs that can be produced
- Collaborate with vendors on their products to aid in design solutions
- Collaborate with the Machinist and mechanical teams to develop and optimize processes
- Determine feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities: considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning and other technical and economic factors
- Plan, prioritize and monitor design activities.
- Design, develop and implement machinery to improve efficiency, quality and productivity
- Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
- Interact and communicate with employees and customers in an appropriate manner.
- Availability on site to confer with staff members with whom the employee must interact on a regular basis.
- Communicate via email, prepare reports and work schedules.
- Review and analyze data and information concerning Quaker's equipment needs.
- Complete assigned tasks/projects in a timely manner.
Supervisory Responsibility
No direct management or supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Knowledge of mechanical skills including, but not limited to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of production and facility equipment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, Outlook
- Proficient Knowledge of computer-aided design AutoCAD and SolidWorks drafting software
- Excellent Knowledge of Quaker's residential products, accessories & systems
Preferred Education and Experience
The expectation is that the individual has achieved a minimum level of education and/or related expertise to qualify for this position.
- Mechanical Engineering Degree required
- 1-3 Years of Relevant Machining or Fabricating Work Experience preferred
