Position Overview
The Welder position is responsible for welding steel and aluminum products. The position will interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan layouts. The Welder also builds equipment and racks.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Weld steel and aluminum products
- Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions
- Build equipment and racks
- Maintain and repair all machinery
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan layouts
- Use specialized machinery for industrial welding and oversee those machines
- Assess welded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors
- Monitor machinery for appropriate usage and temperature
- Safely operate a forklift to move heavy equipment or products
- Follow and enforce strict safety regulations
- Work with Line Leads, Supervisors, and other members of Management
- Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
- Interact and communicate with employees and customers in an appropriate manner.
- Availability on site to confer with staff members with whom the employee must interact on a regular basis.
- Review and analyze plan layouts
- Plan, prioritize and monitor welding activities.
- Complete assigned tasks/projects in a timely manner.
Safety
Observe safety and security policies and procedures, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment including but not limited to eye and toe protection; report potentially unsafe conditions; and use equipment and materials properly. Follow job-specific safety requirements including wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes.
Qualifications
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid certificate in welding from an accredited institution preferred
- Correctly read and interpret blueprints and designs
- Must pass a maintain a Forklift Certification
Preferred Education and Experience
The expectation is that the individual has achieved a minimum level of education and/or related expertise to qualify for this position.
- High school diploma or a passed General Education Development test
- Minimum 2 Years Experience as a Welder

This is a manufacturing job. The employee must be able to:
- regularly lift and/or carry objects weighing between 40 and 70 pounds;
- work shifts of at least 8-10 hours, and occasionally longer, for 5-6 days each week; and
- stand for prolonged periods.
This position must use team lift any time objects exceeding 75 pounds need lifting or carrying.
It is an essential job function and safety rule, applicable to every employee working in a safety sensitive classified position, to be able to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
Vision abilities required by this job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to climactic variations, fumes or airborne particles, various levels of vibration, and moving mechanical parts. Various different types of Personal Protective Equipment might be required based on the employee's work location. The noise level in the work environment may require hearing protection.
