SUMMARY : Technology Support Specialist provides on-site and / or remote technical support via phone or remote control and site visits as assigned. Provide limited network support. Install new technology and train users as needed. Experience providing user support remotely and in-person as required. Proficiency in Google Workplace and MS 0365. Strong customer service skills are a must. Work experience in a school environment is a plus. Must meet all qualifications as listed below.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Other duties may be assigned. Depending upon the individual assignment, the Technology Associate may perform all or a combination of the following :
- Provide technical assistance and support for all computer users in the district for software
- Resolve hardware issues via telephone, remote control of computers or site visit to ensure minimal downtime and greatest student and staff productivity
- Install computer systems, including software; make upgrades to hardware and make upgrades to the software as new versions become available
- Maintain student Chromebooks including working with third-party insurance vendors and self-repair
- Learn, install, & support software applications as they are approved through the District's software adoption process
- Determine the cause of computer malfunctions, whether software or hardware in origin through evaluation and testing and resolve via additions or modifications and in some cases refer to external services if needed
- Provide assistance to network team and district computer users through support / recommendations and instruction as necessary
- Maintain district inventory and ensure all records are updated in a timely and accurate manner
- Assist as needed to provide support for the district's Google Workplace environment to support students and staff
- Other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
High school diploma or GED, two or more years of technical support experience (preferably in an educational setting), familiarity with Macintosh and PC platforms, understanding of network fundamentals. Two or more year's successful college or trade school education in areas such as microcomputer service, electronic design / service, or other related fields (equivalent work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS :
PA required background checks
Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation
LANGUAGE SKILLS :
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical periodicals, procedural manuals, journals, government regulations and technical instructions. Ability to write basic reports and keep accurate records.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :
Mastery of basic arithmetic computation, understanding of basic algebra concepts, understanding of ratios / decimals / fractions / proportions, understanding of basic measurement.
REASONING ABILITY :
Ability to define and communicate problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret correctly a variety of technical instructions in written or diagrammatic form.

While performing this job, the employee will be required to travel between buildings, stand, walk, carry light equipment, reach with hands / arms / bend down and lift up to 75 pounds (in the process of installing and maintaining equipment / networks). The ability to see clearly at close range is essential. Required to sit for prolonged periods, exposed to visual display monitors for prolonged periods. Dexterity and precision required in the operation of a computer.

The noise level in the work environment is acceptable to this particular environment. However, the noise level can vary depending upon the daily activity but will still remain within the acceptable noise level range.
SCHEDULE :
Flexible work schedule based on instructional needs of the District. While a routine daily schedule will be established, flexibility is needed to service equipment in an emergency situation or in a routine maintenance situation to insure the least disruptions to instruction.
