Job Overview:
We are seeking an Industrial Maintenance Electromechanical Technician with advanced expertise to join our team in Doswell, VA. This contract-to-hire position offers a fast-paced manufacturing environment where you will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing industrial electrical and electronic control systems. You will collaborate closely with engineers, machine operators, and maintenance personnel to ensure optimal production efficiency and safety.
\n- Diagnose, test, and troubleshoot PLC programs (RSLogix 500 & RSLogix 5000 experience is a plus).
- Install, program, and troubleshoot variable frequency drives (VFDs) and soft start systems.
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Install and maintain motors, gearboxes, conveyor systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, transmission systems, extrusion, conversion, winders, cranes, presses, and other production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair pumps, valves, and cylinders.
- Perform fabrication, welding, cutting, and machining for repairs and upgrades.
- Conduct bench work, diagnosing, rebuilding, and repairing offline parts for inventory or red-tagging for replacement.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and industry standards (NEC, NFPA, OSHA, Lockout/Tagout).
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities and inventory in the CMMS system.
- Minimum 3 years of industrial electrical and mechanical maintenance experience (heavy industrial experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of electrical systems (120V/277V/480V & 3-phase power).
- Experience with process control systems, including 4-20 mA loops, positioning feedback, and analog controls.
- Hands-on experience with temperature control systems, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and extrusion.
- Ability to troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and VFD systems (PLC programming is a plus).
- Skilled in machine operation, diagnostics, and problem-solving.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, ability to use hand and machine tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Adobe, AX a plus).
- Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills.
- Must have own set of SAE, metric tools, and a digital multimeter.
- Extrusion and flexographic printing experience is a plus.
- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or 3-5 years of prior experience in a similar role.
- PLC and VFD programming training in at least one OEM field is preferred.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, and at heights using ladders and lifts.
- Must be able to operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and man lifts.
- Pre-employment drug screening required.
