Senior Software Development Engineer in Test
Location : San Francisco, CA or Remote

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
As the first SDET hire at Qualia focusing on UI automation, you will be responsible for maintaining and expanding our automated UI tests written in Cypress. While the test framework is already in place, you will take ownership of the existing suite, ensuring that it remains stable, efficient, and scalable. You'll also be tasked with triaging failing tests, managing test pipelines within our CI / CD process, and enabling the QA team to independently manage and maintain the test suite going forward.
Additionally, you will be involved in test reporting and implementing best practices for test writing, maintenance, and troubleshooting across the engineering team. Your work will help maintain the quality and reliability of Qualia's web applications, and you'll have a direct impact on improving the overall product experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Test Writing & Maintenance : Write and maintain Cypress-based automated UI tests to ensure full coverage of Qualia's web applications.
- Test Triage & Troubleshooting : Actively monitor and triage failing tests, investigating potential issues and collaborating with developers to resolve root causes quickly.
- CI / CD Collaboration : Monitor and maintain the test pipelines, ensuring smooth and reliable execution of automated UI tests. Triage any issues that arise, and work closely with the Infrastructure team to ensure fast resolution of test-related failures within the CI / CD process.
- Enablement & Mentorship : Empower the QA team to take ownership of the UI test suite by mentoring them on test writing, best practices, troubleshooting, and the Cypress framework. Help the team become self-sufficient in managing automated UI tests.
- Test Reporting & Metrics : Use the Cypress Dashboard or equivalent for test reporting and metrics. Provide clear visibility into test results and trends to stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement : Lead initiatives to improve the UI automation framework for better test performance, reliability, and maintainability. Introduce improvements in test strategy and automation tooling where necessary.
