Industrial Paint Foreman

Summary:

This position will be responsible for overseeing the painting, loading and structural steel components in the paint department.

Responsibilities:

· Work closely with Plant Management to assure adherence to schedules, efficient use of personnel skills, production machinery and other resources.

· Instruct employees in departmental safety and job specific procedures.

· The ability to learn to read and understand blueprints.

· Knowledge of structural steel materials, welding, layout, and fabrication, machine operation and material handling.

· Knowledge of industrial equipment and maintenance.

· The ability to work a flexible schedule.

· Apply paint or other finishes to steel, using brushes, spray guns or rollers as required

· Positioning loads.

· Analyzing painting specifications, work orders and material safety data sheets to plan painting and loading needs.

· Prepare all material surfaces to be painted, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter.

· Chip and grind off excess weld, slag or spatter using hand scrapers or power chippers, grinders, or arc cutting equipment.

· Mark and tag material with proper job number, piece mark and other identifying marks as required.

· Check the conditions of trailers to ensure cleanliness, safety and compliance with loading procedures.

· Operate overhead cranes, loaders and other equipment to transport materials to and from the paint bay and transportation vehicles and to store retrieve materials within the shop and yard.

· Effectively use time to meet and exceed production expectations.

· Must be able to wear a respirator for extended period of time.

· Must wear required PPE at all times.

Qualifications:

· 2 years of supervisory experience in industrial preferred.

· Must be able to set up and climb ladders and stairs to work on flat bed trailers.

· Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 70 pounds.

· Must be physically capable of bending/twisting as well as standing for long periods of time.

· Must be willing to overtime and weekends as necessary.

· Must be punctual and have a strong work ethic.

· Must be willing to submit to a drug screen.
