The Safety Technician is responsible for the performing technical duties, related to continuously improving the EHS performance, proactively minimizing or eliminating EHS impacts and assuring compliance with all EHS regulations. Support the implementation and evaluation of programs designed to minimize the risk to employees and the environment. Support and Maintain procedures and policies adhering to local, state, and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.
Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Human Resource Director/ EHS Coordinator
Department: Human Resource Department/EHS
Essential Duties:
· Support the implementation and maintenance of the EHS system.
· Perform "Boots-on-the-Ground" safety oversight by identifying and correcting workplace hazards and unsafe conditions.
· Monitor employee exposure to job and chemical hazards as regulated by OSHA permissible exposure limits.
· Follow established procedures to determine if all the issues have been assessed and impacts minimized.
· Complete all applicable reporting and submit to the Human Resource Director for filing with the appropriate agencies.
· Help identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations.
· Handling and management of Hazardous waste materials.
· Monitor, track, log and/or maintain physical records of EHS procedures and programs.
· Conduct audits to verify compliance and identify unsafe conditions.
· Support and conduct EHS training to educate employees about EHS policies, laws, and company practices.
· Document investigations of accidents and incidents to minimize recurrence.
· Identify and report safety concerns to higher-level staff; evaluates safety factors and reports to management.
· Escorting employees seeking medical treatment following an accident.
· Able to adapt to a flexible, fast paced and dynamic work environment.
Qualifications:
· Associate degree, in Environmental or a closely related field or a high school diploma and equivalent work experience.
· One (1) or more years of industrial/manufacturing environmental experience preferred.
· Emergency Medical experience preferred.
· Ability to read and implement written site safety management plan.
· Must have a valid Drivers License
