A food operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of equipment used in handling bulk materials, such as powders, liquids, or granular substances. Their duties may include operating machinery to load, unload, and move bulk materials, monitoring the flow of materials, performing quality control checks, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Additionally, they may be involved in documenting inventory, reporting any equipment malfunctions, and collaborating with other team members to optimize production processes.
Key responsibilities of a bulk operator may include :
- Operating equipment such as conveyors, pumps, mixers, and loaders to handle bulk materials.
- Monitoring material flow and inspecting equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Conducting quality control checks to maintain product specifications.
- Performing basic maintenance on equipment and reporting any issues to maintenance personnel.
- Adhering to safety protocols and environmental regulations to prevent accidents and minimize environmental impact.
- Documenting and reporting inventory levels and any discrepancies.
- Following standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
- Collaborating with team members to optimize production processes and meet production goals.
- Working with supervisors and managers to implement process improvements and ensure efficient operations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
1. High school diploma or equivalency required.
2. Requires 6 months of related work experience.
3. Focus on Safety, Quality, and Productivity, and having the ability to read, understand, and follow SOP’s and GMP’s is required.
4. Dependability, flexibility, energy, and efficiency is required.
5. Ability to communicate effectively with internal customers and work in a team or independently with a positive attitude is required.
6. The ability to adapt, multitask, and remain organized is required.
