What are the responsibilities and job description for the Metallurgical Lab Technician position at Qualified Staffing?
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work in a materials laboratory using cut-off saws, mounting presses, light microscopes, and image analysis software
- Prepare samples for metallographic analysis by sectioning, mounting, polishing, and etching
- Compare microstructures against standards and approve/reject process control sample
- Prepare laboratory reports showing test results
- Make recommendations for improving evaluation or test procedures
- Associate’s Degree or Certificate in metallurgical or materials science or equivalent courses and laboratory test practices and procedures
- At least 5 years of experience working in a materials laboratory performing metallographic analysis
- Knowledge of materials including theoretical aspects
- Capable of lifting 50 pounds from floor to height of 25 inches, capable of pushing or pulling a weight of 60 pounds, have a grip strength of at least 50 pounds and be able to reach above shoulder 65 inches above floor level (minimum).
- US Citizenship required.
