Essential Duties And Responsibilities

- Review Project Documents: Analyze project plans, specifications, and drawings to understand project scope and requirements.
- Material Takeoffs: Perform material takeoffs to quantify the required materials for mechanical systems, including piping, valves, fittings, HVAC equipment, and plumbing fixtures.
- Labor Cost Estimation: Assist in estimating labor costs based on project scope, complexity, and productivity rates.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Quotes: Obtain and analyze quotes from vendors and subcontractors for materials and services.
- Cost Database Maintenance: Assist in maintaining and updating cost databases for materials, labor, and equipment.
- Estimate Preparation: Assist in the preparation of detailed cost estimates, including direct costs, indirect costs, and markups.
- Estimate Review: Participate in estimate reviews with senior estimators and project managers to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all estimates, quotes, and related information.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Site Visits: Conduct site visits to assess project conditions and gather information as needed.
- Software Proficiency: Utilize estimating software and other relevant tools to prepare estimates.
- Bachelor's degree or associate's degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Basic knowledge of cost estimating principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., QuoteSoft, Trimble, PlanSwift, or similar) is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Adhere to all company and project safety regulations.
- Consider safety factors when estimating labor and equipment costs.
