The Support Engineer will support the sales team from the time of inquiry to delivery, which requires validating equipment selection, pricing, submittals, and providing technical product knowledge.
What you'll do:
- Collaborate with sales engineers to understand customer requirements, assess HVAC equipment needs, and determine system requirements.
- Design HVAC systems and integrate them into other HVAC product offerings/selections into the project documents.
- Prepare, finalize, and review preliminary and/or final proposals. Prepare equipment submittals and validate equipment selection.
- Assist sales engineer in determining proposal price, selling strategy, and developing project fulfillment schedule with project team.
- Prepare submittal data and provide all necessary revisions for an approved submittal package.
- Review manufacturer acknowledgements for accuracy and correct orders as required.
- Complete orders and track progress while continually updating status to customer and sales engineers.
- Maintain accurate records including contract closeout, warranty execution, and manufacturer product updates and improvements.
- Help facilitate turnover from sales to service team.
- Provide high level application-based technical product training for our offices. This will be used to optimize our current training programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required skills, knowledge, and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent training and experience in a similar field.
- 3 years of related work experience in HVAC equipment, controls or similar field.
- Moderate technical knowledge of HVAC systems and the manufacturers that serve the market.
- Understanding of the concepts of HVAC controls in new construction, renovation/retrofit project types, components, and systems with the ability to program and commission pre and post installation.
- Demonstrated ability to comprehend, discuss, and apply new concepts in the HVAC industry.
- Education and experience within the construction and engineering industry, with specific experience dealing with construction drawings, specifications, construction schedules and processes is preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Must be highly organized and possess the ability to work in a high paced environment with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet the schedules.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently and autonomously and take ownership of all tasks.
Physical Demands:
- Travel to customer job sites may be required, which could include outdoor work and/or work in mechanical/equipment rooms. During site visits, the employee may be exposed to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, and other variable environmental conditions.
- May be required to satisfy requirements imposed by specific projects, customers, or company.
- Must be able to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet.
