What are the responsibilities and job description for the Independent Contractor - Driver position at Quality Biomedical?
Quality Biomedical is seeking a driver with his / her own cargo van, sprinter, 2 axle trailer, or box truck, to pick up and deliver small to medium pieces of medical equipment.
The radius for pickups and deliveries will be 200 to 400 miles from the Service Center; specific routes will vary from 100 - 600 miles round trip and will generally include several stops. This will fluctuate depending on area being served whether it be specific to MO, KS, IL and possibly AR depending.
This driver will work in conjunction with our Logistics team and may involve crossing state lines occasionally.
The owner / driver will be an independent contractor with a vehicle that is properly licensed, insured, and maintained.
Bed length greater than 10ft for cargo is required to be considered as an independent contractor with QB.
The owner/ driver is also expected to have a clean driving record and must have a $1M Commercial Liability Policy at minimum (Cargo Insurance, specifically, is currently not required).
The Company will enter into a formal agreement for the provision of delivery services.
The successful owner / driver will be paid $0.90 a mile ROUND TRIP (billed as from and to the service center), for each assignment.
Owner/drivers pulling a 2-axle trailer or box truck will be paid $1.00 a mile ROUND TRIP (billed as from and to the service center), for each assignment.
Assignments will be available 2-3 days each week, Monday-Friday as our business expands in this region. This is a part-time opportunity. Earnings will vary. Over time other routes may open up and more days could be added as opportunity permits.
Additionally, job requirements will involve scanning pickups from customers, submitting signed delivery tickets, keeping all units organized and accounted for, submitting weekly invoices, and interacting with customers in various ways including text or calling just depending on their needs. You will also be required to communicate any issues that arise with logistics team including customers being gone, feedback provided by them, and give plenty of notice if you will be out and/or need to reschedule.
