What are the responsibilities and job description for the Materials Process Technician/Machine Operator/Material Handler position at Quality Carbide Metals, Inc.?
We are pleased to announce an opening for a position as a Powder Process Technician at our tungsten carbide manufacturing facility in Spartanburg, SC.
The primary focus of this position will be on-the-job training in working with our lab and machining department to blend, purify, and mechanically press our chemicals and raw materials per a specific process. There will be secondary duties such as loading finished parts, quality inspection, and basic machine operation.

Job Type: Full-time, First Shift
Wage: $18.00-$20.00 per hour (starting & depends on type of industrial experience)
Hours: 7AM-3 PM, Mon-Fri, 30 min. paid lunch
Earned Paid Time Off: 40 hrs after 1 yr service, 80 hrs after 3 yrs, 120 hrs after 5 yrs
Paid Holidays: 10 days

The BEST Applying Candidates should:
- Be prepared to train & quickly contribute to a very unique manufacturing process.
- Have a high school diploma or GED.
- Be able work independently and in an organized manner and must possess a certain degree of hand dexterity to handle the carbide metal in its unique “green” state.
- Be physically capable to carefully lift approx. 60 lbs 3-4 times a day to short (3 ft max) distances.
- Can stand for most of the work day
- Plan on being at work for AT LEAST 35 hours per week.
- Have dependable transportation to get to work
- Be someone that is dependable with minimal supervision to get the job done in a timely manner.
- Be willing and able to learn and listen
- Familiarity with basic industrial machine safety
- Be willing and able work in areas of the plant that do not have A/C at times.
- Be willing and able to handle a work environment that is at times dusty
- Have some basic hand tool experience : sockets, wrenches, etc.
- Be willing to cross-train for a variety of duties throughout the process.
- Desire to be a part of a small company versus a large global corporation.
- Be willing to work closely with a small team (This is not an assembly-line environment.)
