Shift: 7:00pm - 7:00am
Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour

Job Summary: As an integral part of the Quality Care ER team, the Patient Access Representative is the face of our business to our patients. The candidate is responsible for obtaining and entering demographic and insurance data from the patient and accurately entering the information into the registration system. They will also be responsible for insurance verification and informing and collecting patient responsibility at the time of service.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and direct patients and visitors at the front desk.
- Answers telephones promptly and courteously. Directs calls to appropriate personnel and/or departments, takes messages and assures delivery of same. Take messages off the answering machine at the beginning of shift if needed.
- Collects and scans patient demographic and insurance cards from the patient and accurately enters the information into the billing system. Distributes HIPAA information and Patient Rights and Responsibilities to the patient. Collects and distributes patient referral information received from affiliated physicians if applicable.
- Escorts visitors and patients to appropriate areas; provides information to assist patient and/or visitors. Keeps patients and families updated if there are delays in the triage or provision of services.
- Verifies insurance benefits by online verification service. While patient is being seen, receptionist completes a prompt pay calculator by entering the insurance benefits for the patient’s visit. After the patient returns to the checkout desk, receptionist enters the patients CPT codes into the calculator and informs the patient of their responsibility.
- Collects patient copays, deductibles and co-insurance and posts them to the computer.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and functional environment, including removing trash and bringing physical plant and equipment problems to the attention of the administrator.
- Scans patient documents and makes copies of any necessary forms.
- Handle medical records requests and itemized bill requests.
Other Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with other members of the Emergency Center and patients.
- Utilize conflict resolution techniques effectively.
- Customer service driven.
- Knowledge of keyboard and basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, and email system.
STANDARD REQUIREMENTS:
- Meets dress code/uniform standards; appearance is neat and clean
- Completes any training requirements
- Maintains dependable attendance
- Wears ID badge while on company property or job sites
- Works in a safe manner and observes all safety regulations
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent, must be able to produce copy of diploma or official transcript.
- College preferred but not required.
- Proficiency of Microsoft Office applications including Word /Excel / Outlook and internet navigation programs required.
- At least one year of healthcare experience in a fast-paced emergency room or urgent care setting.
- Medical insurance knowledge required.
- Medical terminology a plus.
