Project Manager

Job Summary:

Quality Carriers, Inc. a dynamic and technologically advanced company in the bulk trucking industry is seeking a highly organized and results-oriented Project Manager with 2-5 years of experience. This role will be pivotal in leading and managing a variety of technology-focused projects that directly impact our trucking operations, such as the implementation of telematics systems, mobile applications for drivers, route optimization software, data analytics platforms, and other innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of project management principles, excellent communication skills, a passion for technology, and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, and project tracking. Experience within the trucking or transportation technology space is highly desirable.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Project Planning and Initiation
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables for technology initiatives such as the rollout of new Transportation Management Systems (TMS), telematics systems, maintenance shop systems, and the implementation of predictive maintenance software.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation (including IT personnel, vendors, and end-users), and budgets specific to technology deployments.
  • Identify and analyze project risks associated with technology implementation in the trucking industry (e.g., data security, system integration challenges, user adoption issues) and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate project kickoff meetings with IT teams, operational stakeholders and external vendors.
• Project Execution and Monitoring
  • Manage and coordinate the execution of technology projects, ensuring alignment with operational needs and technical specifications.
  • Track project progress, key milestones (e.g., software deployment, hardware installation, end-user testing), and deliverables related to trucking technology.
  • Monitor and manage project budgets, including software licensing, hardware costs, and implementation services.
  • Identify and resolve project issues and conflicts, particularly those arising from the integration of new technologies with existing infrastructure and workflows.
  • Facilitate regular project team meetings and communicate project status effectively to stakeholders, including updates on technical progress and operational impact.
• Stakeholder Management and Communication
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders (IT, Operations, Safety, Maintenance, Accounting) and external technology vendors.
  • Provide clear and timely communication on project status, risks, and issues related to technology implementations, ensuring understanding across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure their needs are met, considering the impact of technology on daily trucking operations and driver workflows.

• Risk and Issue Management
  • Proactively identify potential risks and issues specific to trucking technology projects (e.g., data privacy concerns, system downtime, integration failures) and develop mitigation plans.
  • Track and manage project risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle, considering their impact on fleet operations and data integrity.
  • Escalate critical technical issues to the appropriate stakeholders for resolution, ensuring minimal disruption to trucking operations.
• Project Closure and Reporting
  • Ensure all technology project deliverables are completed and approved, including documentation, training materials, and system go-live checklists.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and best practices for future technology deployments within the trucking environment.
  • Prepare comprehensive project closure reports, including analysis of budget adherence, system performance, and user adoption metrics.
• Excel Proficiency
  • Utilize advanced Excel skills to create and maintain project schedules, budgets (including software costs and ROI analysis), and resource allocation plans for technology deployments.
  • Develop insightful reports and dashboards to track key project metrics and performance indicators (e.g., system uptime, data integration success rates, user adoption levels).
  • Perform data analysis to identify trends, potential issues, and opportunities for improvement related to technology implementation and its impact on trucking operations.
  • Create and manage project-related documentation and templates using Excel, such as data migration plans, system inventory spreadsheets, and user training logs.
  • Utilize Excel for data manipulation, filtering, sorting, and formula creation to support project decision-making related to technology selection, implementation, and optimization within the trucking context.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration with a technology focus, Logistics/Supply Chain Management).  
• 2-5 years of progressive experience in project management, leading and managing technology-focused projects.
• Strong understanding of technology implementation lifecycles and best practices.
• Proven expertise in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, charting, data validation, and data analysis, with demonstrated application to technology-related data.
• Familiarity with the trucking or transportation industry and its unique technological needs and challenges is highly desirable.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple technology projects simultaneously.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.  
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve technical and project-related issues.  
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Experience with specific trucking technologies (e.g., telematics, ELD, TMS, routing software) is a significant advantage.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or other relevant certifications are a plus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
