Position Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and analytical Fleet Specialist to oversee the efficient allocation, utilization, and sourcing of equipment within the company's fleet. This role is critical in maximizing asset performance, reducing downtime, and ensuring equipment is effectively deployed to meet operational demands. Acting as the primary point of contact for internal equipment requests, this individual will collaborate closely with terminal and fleet operations to enhance fleet efficiency and support strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Analyze fleet utilization metrics to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement in equipment deployment.
- Serve as the primary contact for internal equipment requests, ensuring seamless and successful operations.
- Maintain detailed records of fleet assignments, inventory, and utilization metrics.
- Identify underutilized equipment and recommend strategic redeployment or reassignment.
- Collaborate with terminal and fleet operations to optimize asset distribution and ensure timely equipment availability.
- Track equipment performance and usage trends to provide actionable insights to upper management.
- Manage fleet inventory and coordinate with internal teams to ensure data accuracy.
- Identify recurring equipment needs to support long-term planning and fleet procurement strategies.
- Communicate with vendors and internal teams to facilitate quick resolutions for equipment needs.
- Ensure all recommendations and equipment allocations align with company policies and operational standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall fleet operations and business objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business management, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in fleet management, logistics, or asset optimization, preferably within the transportation industry.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in fleet management software and data analysis tools.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of trucking equipment, terminal operations, and industry best practices is a plus.
