Job Title: Operations Manager – Janitorial Services
Hours: 3pm-11pm M-F with flexibility and occasional weekend work
Position Overview:
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing nightly operations across customer sites, managing cleaning staff, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring service quality standards are consistently met. A significant portion of this role involves filling in for cleaners who call off, training new staff, and performing hands-on cleaning duties as required. This position requires a strong work ethic, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to balance administrative responsibilities with hands-on cleaning work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Supervision & Customer Relations:
- Oversee janitorial operations at multiple customer sites to ensure services meet contractual agreements and quality standards.
- Maintain regular communication with customers, address concerns promptly, and foster strong, long-term client relationships.
- Conduct regular site inspections to assess cleanliness and adherence to company standards.

Staff Management:
- Supervise, train, and mentor janitorial staff, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Conduct training sessions for new hires to uphold quality cleaning practices and safety protocols.
- Manage employee schedules, assign tasks, and coordinate shifts to ensure proper coverage at all customer sites.
- Step in and perform cleaning duties when staff members call off to ensure continuous service delivery.

Hands-On Cleaning Duties:
- Fill in as a cleaner when necessary, performing general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing surfaces.
- Assist staff with cleaning larger or more demanding jobs to ensure customer satisfaction.

Operational Efficiency:
- Monitor and manage supplies, inventory, and equipment to ensure all sites are stocked and prepared for daily cleaning.
- Implement and enforce cleaning standards, safety guidelines, and company policies.
- Identify areas for improvement and recommend operational efficiencies to enhance service delivery.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in janitorial services, facilities management, or a related field is preferred
- Proven experience supervising or managing teams, with strong leadership and people management skills.
- Ability and willingness to perform physical cleaning duties as a core component of the role.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities for handling customer and staff concerns.
- Strong organizational skills to manage schedules, sites, and inventory effectively.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel between customer sites.
Work Environment:
- This position requires frequent travel between customer locations.
- Significant physical activity, including lifting, bending, and cleaning, is required.
- Work hours will vary and may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed to meet operational demands.
