What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sanitation Supervisor position at QUALITY DAIRY COMPANY?

This is a full time position that comes with full benefits.
The start time for this position is 7pm.

Position Summary:

Utilize lean manufacturing principles and productive sanitation systems to support the achievement of the site’s business goals, objectives and financial performance. Responsible for continuous improvement and development of personnel, processes, sanitation, materials, machinery and facility. Performs highly diversified duties leading to improved facility/food safety, quality and sanitation /housekeeping performance.


Job Duties:

  • Follows the Quality Dairy Company Code of Excellence
  • Assures new employee orientation and competency training is complete for assigned job
  • Measures and maintains a ‘lean manufacturing’ environment that achieves desired results in the areas of safety, quality of work, employee productivity, cost and employee relations on a daily basis
  • Plans, schedules, coordinates and assists personnel and outside resources to meet sanitation plan
  • Recommends and implements methods for improvement in equipment, operating procedures and working conditions
  • Utilizes and maintains software; work orders, sanitation standard operating procedures and cleaning chemical inventory in a secure manner
  • Communicates sanitation requirements to sanitation staff, assures sanitation functions are performed accurately, professionally and timely and follows up to make sure sanitation needs are satisfied
  • Communicates maintenance needs to Maintenance Supervisor in a timely fashion
  • Implements policies and procedures to assure regulatory procedures are met
  • Trains staff to maintain equipment and facility in strict compliance to all requisite governmental and industry regulatory requirements and informs Production Manager of compliance problems
  • Completes appraisals for staff members, measuring standards to goals within a specific timeline, provides employee coaching and development and resolves issues through problem resolution and disciplinary action
  • Maintains accurate, complete and current sanitation manuals, including an organized reference library of equipment and facility sanitation procedures in a secure manner
  • Assures that work areas, equipment, tools and supplies are clean, organized and secure
  • Measures departmental efficiency to profit and loss, budget, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports
  • Thorough knowledge of Food Safety Program compliance and ability to lead internal committee

Essential Skills, Abilities and Physical Demands:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through effective time management
  • Thorough knowledge of machine set-up and operation
  • Supervision, including employee hiring, orientation, training, development and retention, performance review and discipline
  • Measurement of departmental performance to budget, goals and standards
  • Ability to develop and maintain systems to assure continuous improvement with a focus on quality, attention to detail, problem analysis and resolution
  • Inventory management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to lift up to 75 pounds, stand, walk, bend, twist, climb, lift, and pull repetitively
  • Exposure to temperature and noise extremes
  • Ability to remain flexible in scheduling to cover weekends, holidays and a 7 day a week operation
  • Must be highly motivated, able to work independently and possess a strong desire to learn and improve

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years experience (some in a leadership/supervisory role) in a food processing and warehouse environment
  • Literacy with PC and MS Office
  • Working knowledge of confined space regulations, hazardous materials, lockout/tag out procedures and other pertinent OSHA, EPA and MIOSHA practices
  • Certified fork lift operator within 3 months
  • CPR Certification
  • Experience with continuous improvement process, lean manufacturing
  • Ability to follow given sanitation standard operation procedures and communicate recommended changes through proper channels
  • Ability to work with and through other people to accomplish sanitation demands, adapt to changing circumstances, personalities and hours
