Tempering Oven Apprentice

At Quality Enclosures, we don’t bake bread—we bake glass. As a leader in the glass shower enclosure industry for over 30 years, we are seeking a highly skilled individual to operate our glass tempering furnace and grow into a potential supervisory role at our Ronkonkoma, NY facility.

About the Role:

The Tempering Oven Apprentice plays a crucial role. This position is designed to provide hands-on training and experience in the tempering process, which is essential for enhancing the quality and durability of products. The apprentice will work closely with experienced technicians to learn the intricacies of temperature control, timing, and product handling. The ultimate goal of this role is to ensure that all products meet the required specifications and quality standards before they are dispatched. By mastering these skills, the apprentice will contribute significantly to the efficiency and effectiveness of the manufacturing process.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with temperature control systems and quality assurance practices.
• Experience using the measuring tape.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the setup and operation of tempering ovens according to production schedules.
• Monitor temperature and timing during the tempering process to ensure product quality.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of the tempering ovens to ensure optimal performance.
• Document production data and report any discrepancies or issues to senior technicians.
• Collaborate with team members to improve processes and enhance product quality.

Skills:

The required skills for this role include attention to detail and the ability to follow precise instructions, which are essential for monitoring the tempering process accurately. Strong communication skills will be utilized daily to collaborate effectively with team members and report findings to supervisors. Problem-solving skills will come into play when addressing any issues that arise during production, ensuring that quality standards are maintained. Additionally, a basic understanding of mechanical systems will aid in performing routine maintenance on the ovens.
