Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) / Medical Assistant
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs nursing procedures under supervision of RN or providers.
2. Assists providers with procedures and exams.
3. Gives patient instructions as directed by the provider.
4. Reports results of labs and other tests to the patient as directed by the provider.
5. Takes vital signs, i.e. Blood Pressure, Pulse, Temp, Resp, Weight and Height accurately on each patient visit and inputs the data into the EMR system.
6. Assists with refill requests sent by the pharmacy and fulfills those requests as directed by the provider.
7. Enters orders into the chart from verbal orders made by the provider. (Cosign required by providers)
8. Schedules referral appointments for patients and records the information in the chart.
9. Records all patient correspondence, I.e. phone calls and patient discussions accurately and completely in the patient record as appropriate.
10. Maintains a clean and tidy work area both in patient areas and non-patient areas. Disinfects patient areas daily and between patients as needed.
11. Assists with front office procedures when directed to do so. (Answering telephone, scheduling appointments, inputting patient demographics and insurance information)
12. Performs duties within the scope of limited radiology tech licensure when directed by the provider (if X-Ray certified)
13. Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with the HIPAA law.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Possesses willingness to accept orders and to perform repetitive tasks.
2. Loyal in matters relating to the office and coworkers.
3. Has awareness of the need for discretion and keeping confidential matters relating to the patients and their problems.
4. Previously demonstrated performance in a medical environment
5. Possess and maintain a current CMA certificate and CNA license in the state of Nebraska.
6. Possess and maintain a current LRT license in the state of Nebraska (when applicable).
PERSONAL QUALITIES:
1. Mentally alert, in good physical health.
2. Patient, courteous and tactful with neat and friendly appearance.
3. Ability to communicate and relate well with providers and other office staff.
4. Must be able to follow direction well from providers, RN, and manager.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
